APD Swat Responds To Barricaded Subject In East Austin

Police were called to the 1400 block of Cool Shadow Drive for a barricaded subject at 12:09 p.m. Monday, authorities said.​

AUSTIN, TX — A suspect is in police custody after barricading themselves at a home in East Austin, officials said Monday.

Police were called to the 1400 block of Cool Shadow Drive for a family disturbance at 9:32 a.m. Monday, authorities said.

When officers arrived, the family inside the home safely left but the suspect remained inside, officials told reporters in a news conference on Monday.

Police said the suspect had a felony warrant and that APD SWAT arrived to serve the order.

At around 1:45 p.m., police said they used a distraction device and less-than-lethal options and to get the suspect to surrender.

Authorities said the suspect is now in custody and that there is no further danger to the public.
It's not clear if the suspect will face any charges related to Monday's incident.
