Austin Extends Anti-Eviction Moratorium Until Year's End
Reflecting Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines, city officials ban landlords from evicting people before Dec. 31.
AUSTIN, TX — The City of Austin extended the moratorium against evictions amid the coronavirus pandemic until the end of the year, officials announced on Wednesday.
The Dec. 31 extension parallels guidelines issued by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, city officials explained. The municipal order bars landlords from issuing notices to vacate against residential and commercial tenants, officials said.
The updated order can be found on the COVID-19 Orders and Rules page under “Current Orders." For more information about COVID-19, visit the "COVID 19 Information" portal of the City of Austin website.
