Austin Parks Foundation Offers 'Movies In The Park' Event

'10 Things I Hate About You' is the next community screening to take place at Martin Multipurpose Fields on Aug. 16.

AUSTIN, TX — The next film to be screened in the Movies in the Park series presented by the Austin Parks Foundation is "10 Things I Hate About You" on Thursday, Aug. 16.

The Austin Parks Foundation hosts the series every year, yielding a fun and relaxing evening for residents in the fresh air and under the Austin skies. The movie will be screened at 8:30 p.m. at Martin Multipurpose Fields, 1626 Nash Hernandez Senior Rd.

Released in 1999, "10 Things I Hate About You" is a teen romantic comedy starring the late Heath Ledger along with Julia Siles and Joseph Gordon Levitt. The film takes its title from a poem written by the female protagonist about her bittersweet romance with another character. Much of the filming of this movie took place in the Seattle metropolitan area.

The film was rated PG-13.

Those wishing to attend should bring along their blankets lawn chairs and picnics. Dogs are welcome, but must be restrained on leashes.There will also be local food trucks nearby offering food for purchase.

Some don'ts: Alcoholic beverages, glass containers and styrofoam are not permitted at any city parks.
