Austin Spring Pecan Street Festival Scheduled For Saturday

The largest art festival in Texas, event lures up to 200,000 people every year.

AUSTIN, TX — The 41st annual Spring Pecan Street Festival is scheduled this Saturday, a music-filled community event that doubles as good cause.

The Pecan Street Association organizers is a not-for-profit 501 (C)-4 group of volunteer business owners, professionals, artists and concerned citizens dedicated to advancing and preserving the integrity of the important, historic and unique area known as the Sixth Street Historic District. In order to meet these goals, proceeds from the activities of PSA, mainly the Pecan Street Festival, include beautification, education and other promotional activities. PSA additionally supports the community through financial contributions to charities serving the Austin region.

The festival will take place from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday and from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday on East Sixth Street in downtown Austin. The featured artist for this year's version is J. Muzacz, with an original piece by the artist reproduced on T-shirts and posters that will be available for sale. Musical acts will include include Los Coast, Cilantro Boombox and Mélat.

Given its emphasis on the arts, the event is well-attended by people throughout Central Texas. It's the largest such art festival in Central Texas, attracting local artists along with craft and food vendors. In the past the event has attracted more than 200,000 people, generating an economic impact of around $43 million, according to Pecan Street Association officials.
