Austin's Madhu Chocolate Named One Of Best Chocolates In America

An Austin chocolatier brand that focuses on sweet Indian-inspired chocolate was named one of the best chocolates in America by Food & Wine.

AUSTIN, TX — An Austin chocolatier brand that focuses on sweet Indian-inspired chocolate was named one of the best chocolates in America by Food & Wine.

Madhu chocolate, owned by Harshit Gupta and Elliott Curelop, was one of two Texas-based chocolatier companies to be featured in the online food magazine's list of best chocolates in America on Friday, April 2.

The food magazine, which featured a list of the finest American chocolate bars created by a new generation of chocolatiers in its article, labeled the Austin chocolate company as "one of the most accomplished makers" on its list as it uses source quality cacao from the Tumaco region of Colombia and "wild flavors" inspired from Gupta's childhood in India.

Each chocolate bar also features a beautiful Indian-inspired textile design and are hand-wrapped to create "the highest of quality bean-to-bar product," the Austin chocolate company's website said.

"Saffron, black pepper from Kerala, cloves, and coriander all make welcome appearances [in each chocolate bar]," the article said. "It is a favorite among some of the most accomplished makers on this list."

The chocolate company has 12 different chocolate bars with more than 50 percent of cacao for each foodie's tastebuds. The flavors include Idukki Black Pepper, Saffron Milk, Rose Pistachio Dark, Coconut Milk Cashew, Masala Chai Dark, Cardamom Dark, Orange Clove, Pure Dark, Vanilla Fennel, Lemon Coriander Dark and Dark Rose.

This isn't the first time the Austin-based chocolatier company has been featured in a popular publication.

Madhu Chocolate has also been featured in the New York Times, Forbes, Martha Stewart Magazine and Bon Appetit Magazine for its renown chocolate bars.
