Boggy Creek Trail In East Austin Completed

Located in East Austin, the city's first dual-track trail yields key connections to downtown, parks, transit and major attractions.

EAST AUSTIN, TX — Parks offficials on Tuesday celebrated the comletion of Boggy Creek Trail — the city's first dual-track trail yielding key connections to downtown, parks, transit and major attractions.

The trails runs from Rosewood Avenue to East 12th Street as a "...dedicated space for people walking and people rolling," officials wrote on Twitter. Located in East Austin, the trail is a project completed in partnership with the Parks and Recreation Department, Austin Public Works and Austin Transportation, officials said.

  • The Boggy Creek Urban Trail extends from the Capital Metro MLK Jr. Station to Rosewood Ave; south of Rosewood Ave. the trail is composed of crushed granite.
  • Capital Metro MLK Jr. Station to East 12th Street: an urban trail provides a comfortable space for people walking or biking to enjoy. This portion of Boggy Creek Trail opened to the public in July 2019.
  • East 12th Street to Rosewood Ave: the urban trail becomes a dual-track trail, which allows for separation of people walking from people biking and using other wheeled devices. This portion of the trail opened to the public in Feb. 2021.
  • The trail is part of two larger planned trail systems: the EastLink Trail and Red Line Trail. It is also part of Austin Transportation's All Ages and Abilities Bicycle Network.
