Celebrate National Trail Day In Austin On The VCT With REI

AUSTIN, TX—Hill Country Conservancy and REI invite you to celebrate National Trails Day 2021 with a fun run on the Violet Crown Trail (VCT) in Austin! National Trails Day (NTD) is observed nationwide with events encouraging communities to explore their local trails and discover the thrill of spending time outdoors.

This year's event on the VCT will raise proceeds to benefit the area's trail and efforts to keep it safe and clean for the community to enjoy. Scheduled Saturday, June 5 from 8 p.m. - 1 p.m. at Dick Nichols Park located at 8011 Beckett Austin, TX 78749, the third annual event encourages participants to take part in a 5k or 1 mile run. Route begins at Dick Nichols Park, and follows the VTC from Latta Dr. to Davis Ln., and showcased the interconnectivity of the trial with the various neighborhoods, wooded areas, urban spaces, and neighborhood parks.

Registration will include your event package:

• A quality Dri-fit NTD on the VCT Fun Run shirt provided by Georgetown Shirt Co.
• A link to the route on Strava
• A virtual opening ceremony with live music from Austin's own Will Dupuy
• A swag bag with socks provided by REI, an HCC koozie, stickers and more
• Cosmic Coffee with Taco Deli Tacos at the event
• A chance to win a cool camping chair and backpack from REI

Come out to the trail on June 5 anytime between 8 a.m. - 1 p.m., and the HCC team will be on hand to cheer you on as you make your way to the finish line!
