Delayed Start For Austin ISD Amid Inclement Weather

The school district said the decision was made with the safety of students and staff in mind.

AUSTIN, TX — All Austin Independent School District classes are operating on a two-hour delay on Tuesday, Nov. 12 due to inclement weather.

All district offices are also operating on a two-hour delay.

"The decision was made in collaboration with the National Weather Service and with the safety of all students and staff in mind," district officials said early Tuesday. "We will continue to monitor the weather and receive updates from the National Weather Service."

Officials said parents should check the district's social media or website for updates.

An Arctic cold front that blasted through the region around noon Monday is predicted to result in a plunge of temperatures just below the freezing mark with potential sleet and frozen rain threatening to create hazardous road conditions.
