Fireball Seen In Texas Skies Thursday (VIDEO)

The American Meteor Society received several reports of a fireball from Texas residents that are pending review.

A fireball was seen in the sky across various parts of Texas on Thursday.

The American Meteor Society said it received 48 reports from residents in Texas, Oklahoma and Louisiana in the early morning hours.

In Texas, residents from Austin to Houston reported spotting the fireball to the meteor society.

"Coolest thing I have ever seen," wrote one person who observed the fireball in Austin.

One observer from Houston wrote, "It lit up the sky and I thought it might have been a very close firework at first, we were running and it was directly in forward and above us so we had a great vantage point to witness it basically on accident."

Another person from Richmond wrote, "I run most mornings before daylight and see many "shooting stars" in a year. This was very unique and outstanding. Have never seen anything like this."

The American Meteor Society received three videos of the event.

KXAN also obtained video of the cosmic event shared by a viewer. The local Austin news channel was first to report news of the fireball sighting.
