Gabriela's Will Open 2nd Restaurant In South Austin

AUSTIN, TX — Gabriela's restaurant will open a second location in South Austin this weekend.

The Mexican eatery announced last Friday it would host a grand opening for its second location at the Southpark Meadows shopping center at 11 a.m. Sunday.

At the event, Gabriela’s will offer discounted food items and drink specials including their award-winning margaritas for just $5. The grand opening will also feature live entertainment with local DJs as well as mariachi bands. A soft opening for the restaurant began Monday.

Gabriela's was founded in 2018 by siblings and Michoacán natives Gabriela and Arturo Bucio and has been serving modern Mexican food at its downtown location on 900 E. 7th Street.

Gabriela's second location in South Austin will feature full service dine-in seven days-a-week and will offer a similar food menu inspired by Michoacán family recipes that "emphasize fresh ingredients while avoiding artificial flavorings and enhancers."

Seafood items and weekend brunch have also been added to this location's menu, officials said.

The 6,500 square-foot interior dining space features a vibrant color scheme, a wrap-around full service bar with more than 20 beer taps including local and Mexican beers, outdoor dining, an elevated stage for live music and more than 30 HDTV's for sports enthusiasts.

“The Austin community has continued to be incredibly supportive of my brother and me ever since we embarked on this adventure and for that, I am so grateful,” said Gabriela Bucio, co-founder and co-owner of Gabriela's Group. “Opening a second location of Gabriela’s is a dream come true and I really can’t wait to show off our new spot."
