Hopdoddy To Open East Austin Site Amid 10th Anniversary

EAST AUSTIN, TX — The popular craft burger and brew joint, Hopdoddy Burger Bar, will open its first East Austin location at the new Plaza Saltillo later this month, restaurant officials said Friday.

The new location scheduled to open Oct. 22 coincides with the chain's 10th anniversary — a milestone not lost on its operators, particularly amid challenging times spurred by the coronavirus pandemic that has led to mass closures elsewhere. (Note: Officials initially scheduled the opening on Oct. 21 before alerting Patch they had pushed it back by one day.)

"After 10 years in business, and a difficult seven months due to the pandemic, Hopdoddy is gratefully poised for the future thanks to its team and community of supporters," restaurant officials wrote with palpable gratitude. The restaurant will offer top-notch burgers, hand-cut Chipperbec fries, handspun shakes, specialty cocktails and local craft beer, available to-go or dine-in inside or on the restaurant’s patio, officials added.

“Things are coming full circle as we approach our 10th anniversary, so we’re ready to open our next restaurant in Hopdoddy’s birthplace,” Jeff Chandler, CEO of Hopdoddy Burger Bar, said in a prepared statement. “We’re extremely thankful for the Hopdoddy fanatics who have supported us through the years and are excited to join the music, art and flavor-rich neighborhood of East Austin.”

The new eatery is located at 1011 East 5th Street, Suite 180. Hours of operation will be: Sunday – Thursday, 11 a.m. – 9 p.m. and Friday – Saturday, 11 a.m. – 10 p.m. To-go orders can be placed online at www.hopdoddy.com.

Hopdoddy will continue the Goodnight for a Good Cause program at the Plaza Saltillo restaurant, donating a portion of proceeds from every Goodnight Burger sold to Health Alliance for Austin Musicians (HAAM). Hopdoddy will also partner with HAAM to host live music on the Plaza Saltillo patio October 23rd—details will be announced on social media in the next week. CELEBRATING 10 YEARS
