Interstate 35 Lane Closures For Dec. 26-Jan. 1, 2021

AUSTIN, TX — Highway road crews need time to spend time with loved ones over the holidays too, and the roar of machinery is incongruous with the sounds of Christmas. For such reasons, this week's list of Interstate 35 lane closures is an abbreviated one.

The Texas Department of Transportation issues its weekly list of lane closures to alert motorists of areas along the key stretch of the highway of areas of potential traffic congestion. Savvy motorists check the list before traveling, deftly able to avoid traffic jams as a result by finding alternative routes to ensure seamless and uninterrupted travel.

Typically a long compilation, the latest lane closures list contains but five sections of road work along the key artery. It's a Christmas miracle! But it dawns on Patch now that these introductory paragraphs for explanatory, contextual purposes may now rival the length of the list itself. So, without further ado, the following are I-35 lane closures covering the period between Dec. 26 and Jan. 1, 2021:

I-35 FROM RM 1431 TO FM 3406 (NORTHBOUND)

• Northbound I-35 frontage road reduced to one lane from Jeffrey Way to the RM 1431 exit (#256)
  • Through early 2021

I-35 AT PARMER LANE

• Northbound I-35 bypass lane closed at Parmer Lane
  • Through early 2021

I-35 FROM RM 150 TO KYLE CROSSING

• Northbound I-35 frontage road left lane closed from FM 150 to Brent Boulevard
  • Through February 2021
• Northbound I-35 frontage road right lane closed from FM 1626 to Kyle Crossing
  • Through late 2021

I-35 AT POSEY ROAD

• Northbound I-35 Posey Road exit (#199) closed
  • Until further notice
• Southbound I-35 York Creek Road exit (#196) closed
  • Until further notice

I-35 MAINTENANCE PROJECTS

• Northbound and southbound I-35 frontage road left lanes closed at Onion Creek Parkway
  • Wednesday, Dec. 30 from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.
