Man Found Dead In North Austin Identified

Hugo Geovany Martinez Morales, 35, was found unresponsive in the parking lot of an apartment complex at 9036 N. Lamar Boulevard Wednesday.

AUSTIN, TX — A man who was found dead in a parking lot in North Austin was identified by police Thursday. Officials have ruled the man's death a homicide.

Hugo Geovany Martinez Morales, 35, was found unresponsive in the parking lot of an apartment complex at 9036 N. Lamar Boulevard before dying at the scene early Wednesday.

Police said they received a 911 call for a man down at the apartment complex at 6:48 a.m. Wednesday.

When officers arrived, they along with Austin-Travis County EMS attempted to perform life-saving measures on Morales, but were unsuccessful. Morales was pronounced dead at 7:07 a.m.

The Travis County Medical Examiner's office conducted an autopsy on the 35-year-old and determined his cause of death was a result of a gunshot wound. The medical examiner ruled his death a homicide.
