One-Of-A-Kind Exhibition Lets Your Inner Kid Run Wild

Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center brings back its popular Fortlandia Exhibition featuring forts designed and built by local artists.

AUSTIN, TX — Returning by popular demand, Fortlandia at the Lady Bird Johnson Center is an exhibition of 10 forts, custom designed and built by local architects, designers and artists displayed at the Mollie Steves Zachry Texas Arboretum located at 4801 La Crosse Ave.

Curiosity and exploration are piqued when you admire these forts and nature's beauty as a backdrop. Guests will have the chance to build their own fort at the exhibition's Fort Build. Opening Saturday, Oct. 6 at 9 a.m., you and your family will delight in visiting each unique hideout. Entry is included with regular admission, and admission is always free for members.

Portlandia is an experience also designed for adults to enjoy with an exclusive after-hours event that will let your inner child run free. Taking place in the Texas Arboretum within the Fortlandia exhibition, the event will feature tree climbing, botany-themed beer tasting, delicious food from some of Austin's hottest eateries, Tito's cocktails, live music from Ryan DeSiato & Exploded Drawing and more! The special after-hours adults only Fortlandia Takeover is scheduled for Friday, Oct. 11 from 4 p.m. - 10 p.m. For tickets and other event details, click HERE.

As if all this fun weren't enough, there will also be a members-only night dedicated to Fortlandia in the dark. A family-friendly evening event, members will get a chance to bring their flashlights and sneak out after dark to enjoy a night hike among the forts. The unique get-together will have families enjoying marshmallow roasting by the fire, snacks, and an evening making memories. Forts by Flashlight (Members Only) takes place Monday, Nov. 25 from 5 p.m. - 8 p.m. For event details, click HERE.
