Saturday's Texas-Kansas Game Canceled Over Coronavirus Testing

Kansas officials announced the Jayhawks could not 'meet the minimum position requirements' established by the league office.

AUSTIN, TX — Saturday's game between Texas and Kansas has been postponed over concerns related to testing for the coronavirus, according to a published report.

The Austin American-Statesman reported the game will be rescheduled for Dec. 12. Kansas officials announced the Jayhawks could not “meet the minimum position requirements” established by the league office, the newspaper reported. “The position group affected has a combination of injuries and contact tracing,” officials added.

Since Nov. 8, Kansas football players have undergone 825 tests for COVID-19 with five positives on different days during that span, Kansas officials said in a statement published by the Statesman. Before the season began, the Big 12 established that each team must have 53 healthy players and certain numbers at specific positions, the newspaper reported.
