2nd Person Arrested In 6th Street Mass Shooting

AUSTIN, TX — A second suspect was arrested Monday in connection to the mass shooting on Sixth Street in downtown Austin, officials said.

Jeremiah Roshaun Leland James Tabb, 17, was arrested Monday in Killeen and faces aggravated assault charges as an adult under Texas law, according to Austin police.

Tabb was arrested without incident in Killeen while enrolled in a summer school class, police said. A booking photo of the 17-year-old will be provided as soon as it becomes available.

This is the second arrest made in connection to Saturday's shooting, officials said.

On Sunday, Austin police said it arrested a juvenile in connection to the shooting. Because the person is underage, their identity and court records will likely remain confidential.

Police officials and prosecutors Monday were still considering what additional charges both suspects will face, but officials have said the charges could include murder, attempted murder and aggravated assault, the American Statesman reports.

The investigation into who fired a gun — or whether both of them opened fire — is ongoing, officials said. Investigators have not released a possible motive.

Police received a 911 call at 1:24 a.m. Saturday after gunshots were fired in the 400 block of E. Sixth Street in downtown Austin, according to Interim Austin Police Chief Joseph Chacon.

Gunshots were fired at a large crowd on Sixth Street injuring 14 people and critically wounding two people. Douglas John Kantor, 25, of New York, who was one of the victims in the shooting, died of his injuries on Sunday.

Family members told the Austin-American Statesman Kantor had recently completed graduate school and was soon to be married.
