Sexual Assault Under Investigation At UT-Austin: Police

University police said the assault happened around 1 a.m. on Saturday.

AUSTIN, TX — Police at the University of Texas at Austin are investigating a sexual assault at the school's Jester Dormitory.

Police said the assault occurred around 1 a.m. on Saturday. The assault was categorized as a "non-stranger" sexual assault, meaning the alleged perpetrator was known to the victim.

"The most common type of sexual assault is perpetrated by someone the victim knows, not by a stranger," police said in a statement. "Consent is enthusiastic agreement required by all and can be revoked at any time. Sexual activity requires consciousness and clarity.
