Texas Tuition Promise Fund Scholarships Offered Through Dec. 31

Families with incomes of $100K or less can augment prepaid college tuition plan contributions with Match the Promise scholarships.

AUSTIN, TEXAS — Students in the fifth through ninth grade who are enrolled in the Texas Tuition Promise Fund® whose families have an annual income of $100,000 or less may apply now through Dec. 31, 2018, for Match the Promise scholarships, state officials said.

"The Texas Match the Promise Foundation℠ encourages families to save for college by supplementing their contributions to the Texas Tuition Promise Fund — the state's prepaid college tuition plan," Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts officials wrote in a press advisory. "Families who do not currently have a Promise Fund account can find information about establishing one on our website," officials added.

Approved recipients can receive matching scholarships of tuition units worth up to $1,000 at today's prices, and top-scoring recipients can also receive a one-time grant of tuition units worth $2,000 at today's prices, officials said. These scholarship tuition units can be used at Texas public colleges and universities.

There are some residency restrictions, and eligibility criteria along with minimum contribution requirements apply.
