Tinder Analysis Yields Primer On Single Men In Austin
Facial hair, fashion sense and smiles abound in the reckoning, with only a small percentage of eligible bachelors termed slobs.
AUSTIN, TX — As if sent by Cupid himself as a dating primer for finding love in Austin — just days before Valentin's Day, as an added bonus — a new study analyzed the profiles of single men in the capital city for those seeking a mate. It's a mixed bag and, yes, there will be beards.
Kingsman Beard Club recently analyzed more than 3,500 Tinder profiles of men living in 31 of the largest American cities to learn more about single men in America and what the typical dating profile looks like. The analysis studied various metrics based on main profile pictures toward compiling insights into more than a dozen characteristics —smiles, facial hair, attire, selfies, kids, cars, and the like.
From that rough calculus, here's what Austin has to offer among the single man demographic looking for love:

- Only 3 percent of men in Austin were defined as a swipe left "sh*tshow." This is a term used by analysts, not ours, pointing to such negatives as not smiling, body not visible, dress like a slob, using a selfie.
- On the other side of the coin, Austin ranks 6th nationally for men who qualify as a "total package," with 21 percent of Austin men earning the accolade.
- Another positive finding: 60 percent of Austin men smile in their main profile picture, ranking 4th nationally.
- 52 percent of Austin men show their bodies in their main profile picture, ranking 5th nationally. Presumably, this is a good thing rather than the potential jarring sight of a disembodied head.
- Austin men ranked 4th nationally for the most facial hair. This comes as no surprise, as Austin is among the cities with the most beards per capita.
- Austin men ranked 8th nationally for best dressed.
