The Trifecta For Enjoying Autumn In Austin: Free, Family, Fun

From a bubble fun run to music and petting zoos, here's a look at some free and low-cost family events happening around Austin this fall.

AUSTIN, TX — October is perhaps the most perfect month for families to go out and take part in all the best Austin has to offer. The month offers a trifecta of FAMILY, FUN and FALL! We've put together some ideas for FREE and low-cost events for kids of all ages to enjoy and invite you to check them out.

  • Berkeley Farm October Open Hours: Visitors get a chance to explore farm living and see what a real urban farm is like. Enjoy an afternoon with lovable farm animals, admire the gardens, and get up close to the animals in the farm's petting corral. Wear comfy and casual clothes and please remember to bring close-toed shoes. Visitors may bring snacks or a picnic to enjoy.   • Lakeshore's FREE Crafts for Kids Monster Celebration Saturdays in October: Kids ages 3 and over can enjoy FREE crafts each Saturday in October from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. at Lakeshore Learning located at 9828 Great Hills Trail, Austin, TX 78759.   • Austin Creative Reuse Kid's Art Workshop October: Families are invited to enjoy a creative and fun day of art as part of a special Austin's Creative Reuse 3-hour workshop designed for children ages 3-15. Participants will incorporate reuse materials and paint, collage, draw, and create unique artwork to take home. Kids will tap into their creativity through games and fun material exploration. Parents and caregivers are welcome to stay and watch or may drop off their child for this event.   • The Music of Phish for Kids Halloween Spooktacular at Mohawk: The Rock and Roll Playhouse, a family concert series hosted at historic music venues across the country, giving kids a chance to listen, move and play along to the songs of iconic musicians from rock history. Designed for kids of all ages, The Rock and Roll Playhouse ensures little ears are protected and parents and caregivers can rest assured knowing the volume is turned down to an adequate level. Children may also wear hearing protection earmuffs if more comfortable. This one-of-a-kind event is a perfect opportunity to have little one's explore music and its many genres.   • 2019 Austin Bubble RUN: On your mark, get set...to have the most fun running, walking, playing or dancing your way across 3 miles of colored (and safe) foam. Waves start every 3-5 minutes and at each kilometer, participants run through Foam Bogs filled with foam. Adults, kids, strollers...all welcome! Event FREE if registering before Sept. 25. The run takes place Saturday, Oct. 12 at 8 a.m. at the Travis County Fairgrounds on 7311 Decker Ln Austin, TX 78724.
