TxDOT Seeks Community Input On Proposed Improvement Project
Residents are invited to a public hearing to lend their feedback on the I-35 Capital Express South Project either virtual or in-person.
AUSTIN, TX—Austin area residents will have an opportunity to offer their feedback on infrastructure during a public hearing as the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) presents final proposal for I-35 Capital Express South Project. The public is invited to learn more about and provide their input on new managed lanes and safety improvements planned on I-35 from SH71/Ben White Boulevard to SH 45 Southeast.
The community will have the opportunity to assist the virtual public hearing, or attend in-person to recommend alternative for improvements to the proposed $300 million project. Known as the I-35 Capital Express South project, improvements include adding two high-occupancy vehicle managed lanes in each direction along I-35, which includes constructing a southbound I-35 intersection bypass lane at Stassney Lane and William Cannon Drive; adding 2.5 miles of auxiliary lanes for entering and exiting traffic; constructing braided northbound entrance and exit ramps at Slaughter Lane; and enhancing bicycle and pedestrian paths throughout the corridor.
The virtual public hearing begins Tuesday, April 27 through Wednesday, May 26, 2021, and will be available via my35capex.com. Comments are to be received on or before May 26 in order to be included in the official meeting record. Public comments may be submitted:
