Siegel, Gandhi Head To Runoff In U.S. 10 Texas Democratic Primary
Mike Siegel and Pritesh Gandhi are heading to a runoff in the Democratic primary election for Texas' 10th congressional district.

Mike Siegel and Pritesh Gandhi will head to a runoff in the U.S. House primary election for Texas' 10th congressional district, according to The Associated Press and The Texas Tribune. The district stretches from the Austin area to the outskirts of Houston. Incumbent Republican Michael McCaul is running unoppsed on his party's side.
Polls have now closed in the state and Patch will update this story with live vote totals as results from the 10th congressional Democratic primary election begin to come in.
As The Texas Tribune notes, Siegel came within five points of winning the seat in 2018. According to The Intercept, Siegel "put together a strong grassroots network and ran as an out-spoken progressive, gave McCaul a scare," in the race two years ago.

On his campaign website, Siegel lists health care for all and supporting the Green New Deal among the issues he supports, both topics that are championed by progressive Democrats. By profession, Siegel is a lawyer.
According to the latest results from the Texas Secretary of State website, Siegel is in th lead with 73.83 percent of the vote (101,355 votes) followed by Pristesh Gandhi with 15.82 percent of the vote (21,723 votes) and Shannon Hutcheson had 10.34 percent of the vote (14,199 votes) with all precincts reporting.

Siegel's opponents have positioned themselves as more moderate candidates, the Tribune writes. The publication also notes that Hutcheson has donated to Republican judicial candidates and voted in the Republican primary in 2010.
