Virtual Performance Spotlights Talent Of UT New Theatre Students
"Radiance" will be performed as part of the annual showcase of new plays from third-year playwrights in the M.F.A. Playwriting Program.

AUSTIN, TX—The University of Texas at Austin Department of Theatre and Dance College and the UT New Theatre (UTNT) invite audiences to Radiance, a live virtual performance by Gursimrat Kaur and directed by Giana Blazquez to enjoy from the comfort of home. UTNT is an annual showcase of new plays from third-year playwrights in the M.F.A. Playwriting Program.
Radiance is a story set within a growing metropolitan city in the midst of economic transition, and follows the story of a few individuals who want more from the city than it promises to give them: Aria, a high-end escort, orchestrates an escape from her gruesome life in an elite brothel while Dina, a physically disabled young woman, rebels for love that will open her world beyond an isolated bedroom in the middle of a suburban wasteland. As Stanley, an aspiring young entrepreneur, arrives in the city to climb the ladder of a booming textile industry, we witness the consequences of economic progression on the inequity of gender roles in a developing society.
Tickets to the virtual performance are available at pay-what-you-can pricing, and minimum cost is $5. Attendees will receive an email with additional information for the selected performance following ticket purchase, including a separate email with access code to view the stream.
