Austin audiences are invited to the NDAL virtual education series this summer with expert insight for professionals and students.

AUSTIN, TX—New Directions in the American Landscape (NDAL) invite audiences to enjoy a range of programming this summer with their virtual education series, Broadening Our Landscape Vision: Ecology, Culture, and Art. The programming organized in two tracks: 1) Professional Practitioners and 2) Home Gardeners, Educators, and Students, will offer various topics within virtual live sessions with a panel of experts.

Registration is now open, and the series is scheduled through September 2021. Whether you're a professional interested in learning about ecology-based landscape design to culturally reflective landscapes, or you're a home gardener and educator looking to explore ways to create landscapes that are ecologically healthy, the series offers fascinating insight from professionals to help you improve your skills.

The upcoming NDAL Webinar: Designing Ecological Spaces for Children scheduled July 9 from 12 p.m. - 2:30 p.m. ($48). Description:Evidence abounds that children benefit from time spent in nature-based environments, yet concerns over safety and maintenance often result in standardized, single-purpose spaces. In this presentation, Willa Coughey will draw on research and case studies in the U.S. and Denmark to explore how schools, parks, playgrounds and the other spaces children occupy can support children’s development, cultivate independence and resilience, complement curriculum-based learning goals, increase time spent outside and fulfill vital ecological functions by introducing more nature to the children’s realm.
