Yelp reviewer Lesina G. from Santa Monica, CA said: “Cool little place in that is connected to a post office in East Austin. We walked in and there was plenty of seating inside and out. Our server was awesome! Didn’t catch her name but she was one sure of an upseller. She offered great suggestions and additions. She was funny and never let our coffees and waters get halfway empty. The four of us in our party all enjoyed our food. The pancake was delicious and was enough to share with the table in addition to our entrees. Highly recommended.”

3. Counter Cafe East

1914 E 6th Street

Yelp reviewer Derrick S. from Austin, TX said: “I have been eating at Messhall Cafe since I discovered them last year. They are not out to redefine your dining experience, give you free range anything, or make you overpay. The space itself is very basic, as is the food, but that’s the charm of coming here. I typically get a burger and fries, which comes in at very affordable $6. The staff there is very friendly, remembers regulars, and they all have a good sense of humor.”

4. Toaster

1910 E Cesar Chavez

Yelp reviewer Megn L. from Phoenix, AZ said: “Once I saw PB&J French Toast I was sold on Toaster. It blew my mind. Amazing! It’s a little difficult to find, there is a food truck lot next to Stay Gold and it is not accessible through there, you have to enter the Stay Gold patio through a gate. Once your there it is a great patio to enjoy a Sunday brunch. Will come again next time I’m in Austin.”

5. Mettle - East Austin Bistro

507 Calles St

Yelp reviewer Jen G. from Federal Heights, CO said: “I gave a rave review from Saturday night...well we loved it so much we went back to give their brunch Sunday morning a try. Was exactly as we’d expected...excellent! Both Frank and Elizabeth were there again and we were delighted. I wish I could give more than 5 stars, the food, the interior and the people make this little hidden gem. They made us feel like we were locals. Loved it!”
