Fundraiser Benefiting First Responders' Families Scheduled

AUSTIN, TEXAS — The 18th annual McDonald's Good Friday Fundraiser benefiting families of first responders killed or critically injured in the line of duty is scheduled on Thursday.

The April 18 event organized by the Austin Police Department, McDonald’s and the 100 Club of Central Texas benefits 100 Clubs throughout South Central Texas. The drive will kick off at a 10 a.m. news conference.

As part of the activities, APD assistant chiefs will work the counter and drive-through line in serving customers at the McDonald's on 4501 E. Ben White Blvd. at 11 a.m. on Good Friday.

“McDonald’s in South Central Texas is a proud, honored supporter of local 100 Clubs and greatly appreciates what they do for our communities, and the families of fallen and critically injured first responders,” said Cindi Ferguson, McDonald’s Owner/Operator. “The annual fundraiser offers the community a way to give back to those who put their lives on the line for our safety.”

Added 100 Club Central Texas Board Chair Billy Bryan: “The 100 Clubs of Central Texas deeply appreciates McDonald’s for their continued support of our organization. We encourage everyone to join us at your local McDonald’s for lunch on Good Friday to show support for these vital members of our community.”

The Good Friday Fundraiser was established in 2001 to financially assist area 100 Clubs and support their mission of providing financial assistance to the families of first responders. It also serves as a way for first responders to interact with the community.
