Police ID Passenger Killed In East Austin Wreck
Corbin Sabillon-Garcia, 38, was killed after being thrown from a vehicle following rollover along 1400 block of .East Highway 71.

EAST AUSTIN, TEXAS — Police on Thursday identified the passenger killed after a rollover wreck during which he was ejected from the vehicle in late December.
Police released their preliminary findings on the case dating to Dec. 30 just before 2:30 a.m. along the 1400 block of East Highway 71 eastbound. That's where a 2003 Ford F150 was traveling northbound on the U.S. 183 northbound ramp to East Highway 71 eastbound. The truck went across the ramp at both highways, rolled over and came to a stop north of the roadway, police said.
The passenger in the vehicle was ejected from the vehicle before being pronounced dead at the scene. He was identified as Corbin Sabillon-Garcia, 38. The driver was transported to St. David's South Austin Hospital. Police didn't specify the nature of the driver's injuries or indicate whether the driver faced any charges related to the wreck.

Police noted the incident marked Austin’s 74th fatal traffic crash of 2018, resulting in 75 fatalities last year. In the comparable period during 2017, police added, there were 71 fatal traffic crashes and 76 traffic fatalities.
