Renowned Pastry Chef Julie Myrtille To Open East Austin Bakery
When we find ourselves in times of trouble, Julie Myrtille comes to us — soon to open a bakery storefront in East Austin. Let it be! Oui!

EAST AUSTIN, TEXAS — Finally, some sweet news: Julie Myrtille — a beloved Austin figure given her baked goods offerings at local farmer's markets — has revealed she'll be opening a storefront bakery in East Austin in the coming days.
We'll give you a few seconds to assimilate that information. This story will continue after you have recovered from the unbridled joy your are undoubtedly now feeling. Go grab a tissue. Wipe away those happy tears. Take your time.
So, Myrtille made the announcement about her bakery on her Instagram page on Thursday. Word on the street has it that the menu will include all manner of freshly baked breads, a variety of quiches, myriad pastries, countless crepes and sumptuous sandwiches. Those farmer's market faves — canelés, croissants, kouign amann, madeleines and more will be offered. To wash it all down, coffee, hot chocolate, limonade and other tasty beverages will reportedly be offered as well.

It's enough to make one weep but in a good way.
"About 3 years ago, we set up our humble booth at the Farmers Market in Austin and quickly gained the attention of pastry lovers around #Austin," Myrtille wrote on Instagram. "We have genuinely enjoyed meeting so many wonderful people from all walks of life. It has been a truly amazing feeling to provide French pastries and delicatessen in Austin, a vibrant city that we have fallen in love with."

And then, the words that have filled us with unspeakable joy: "We are beyond ecstatic and proud to announce we will officially open our bakery storefront here, all thanks to this supportive community! This will be our maiden voyage and our flagship bakery!"
But like a well-packaged holiday gift tightly wrapped as to not betray its contents, Myrtille is being coy in terms of the exact location of this bakery storefront let alone its hours of operation. "Opening date and location coming soon!" she adds tantalizingly.
So we wait. As visions of baked goods dance in our heads, we wait.
