Salvation Army Austin Area Command Opening New Facility

Citadel Corps Community Center and Area Command includes a chapel, gym, classrooms, band room, kitchen, multi-purpose room and offices.

AUSTIN, TEXAS — Officials at The Salvation Army Austin Area Command have scheduled a ribbon cutting and dedication service for the Citadel Corps Community Center and Area Command for this coming Wednesday.

The construction of this facility was made possible by the 125th Anniversary Capital Campaign and by the donation of land by local philanthropist Dick Rathgeber, officials said in a press advisory.

The Citadel Corps Community Center and Area Command includes a chapel, gymnasium, classrooms, band room, kitchen, multi-purpose room, and administrative offices. It will serve as a center for worship, ministry, outreach and administration. The unveiling of the Dick Rathgeber philanthropic display will occur immediately following the ribbon cutting.

The facility is located at 4700 Manor Rd. in Rathgeber Village amid the Mueller development. Among the dignitaries scheduled to attend the ceremony are Commissioner Jeff Travillion; Mayor Pro Tem Kathie Tovo; Major Andrew Kelly; Area Commander Dick Rathgeber; and Mike Nasi, Advisory Board Chair.
