Strong Thunderstorms Expected In Austin Area On Friday, May 4
National Weather Service predicts a 90 percent chance of thunderstorms, with half to three-quarters of an inch of rain expected.

AUSTIN, TX — Strong thunderstorms, some of them possibly severe, are expected to descend on the Austin area on Friday, forecasters said.
According to the National Weather Service, there is a 90 percent chance of rainfall tomorrow, with rain amounts of between a half and three-quarters of an inch possible. Some local meteorologists are saying up to two inches of rain might be dumped tomorrow.
The rain is expected to continue into Friday night, primarily before 1 a.m., according to the NWS. The percentage for rain diminishes by Friday night, dropping to 60 percent.

The high temperature Friday is expected to reach 76 degrees, dipping down to 61 degrees by nightfall. Winds are expected to be traveling at a negligible five miles per hour to 10 miles per hour on Friday.
Rain is beneficial, particularly to flora and fauna and to replenish area waterways. But for those predisposed to feel bummed out by weekend rain, take solace in knowing that the chances of precipitation drop exponentially to just 20 percent by Saturday. Any rain that would fall on Saturday would likely come before 1 p.m., forecasters predict. The high temperature on Saturday: A balmy 82 degrees.
