850 Pounds Of Marijuana Seized At Border
The drugs had a street value of more than $500,000.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) have seized roughly 850 pounds of marijuana at the border over the past 10 days. From May 19 to May 28, agents assigned to the Van Horn Station, which is roughly 121 miles east of El Paso, worked the rugged terrain near Van Horn and tracked down subjects carrying makeshift burlap backpacks that contained marijuana, CBP said in a news release.
The total marijuana seizure of approximately 850 pounds was the result of four different events that occurred during the 10 day period. The seizures were attributed to the agents’ knowledge of the vast terrain and collaborated efforts of the local, state, and federal partners, CBP said.
The total value of the narcotics seized have a street value of more than $500,000. A total of 12 people, citizens and nationals of Mexico and Honduras, were apprehended in connection with these events. The narcotics and 12 people were turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration.
