A recent article in Fortune showcased the efforts of [email protected], the technology-based group working to address gaps in the workforce. Chief among their efforts is a push to create and facilitate skills-based talent marketplaces.

Skills-based talent marketplaces allow employers to tap a community for a specific set of skills that are necessary to scale up an enterprise with skill sets being the target as opposed to pedigree or other factors. Additionally, skills-based talent marketplaces allow businesses to determine what might be necessary in terms of workforce development, particularly to determine what kind of reskilling or upskilling might be necessary.
