EL PASO, TX — The husband of a woman who died in the El Paso Walmart mass shooting is welcoming anyone to attend services for his wife on Friday. Antonio Basco was married to Margie Reckard for 22 years and had no other family, according to the funeral home arranging services.

Reckard, 63, was among the 22 victims gunned down Aug. 3 by a man who was apparently driven by anti-immigrant hatred. Seven of the victims killed in the shooting were Mexican nationals.

Perches Funeral Home shared Basco's request on its Facebook page and the post has since been shared nearly 10,000 times. In the comments, mourners asked if they could send flowers and cards to show their sympathies.

"When I met her she was an angel and she still is," Basco told local news channel KFOX in the days after the shooting. The couple's plan was to "live together and die together," Basco told KFOX.
