Stockpile Of Drugs Found In Truck At Border
The large drug bust was made Tuesday at the Ysleta international crossing.
EL PASO, TX — U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers seized 120 pounds of marijuana in two busts and 16.5 pounds of cocaine from a truck Tuesday. The bust occurred after 6 a.m. at the Ysleta international crossing, CBP said in a news release. The drugs were found in a 2005 Dodge Dakota after the truck entered the country from Mexico.
CBP was alerted to the narcotics by a drug sniffing dog, CBP said. Officers removed multiple marijuana filled bundles from the doors and fuel tank of the vehicle weighing 68 pounds. The driver, a 20-year-old male U.S. citizen, was arrested and turned over to Homeland Security Investigations special agents to face charges associated with the failed drug smuggling attempt, CBP said.
