Ysleta School Calendar 2017-18: First Day Of School, Vacations, Conferences

The first day of school in Ysleta is August 28. Feel free to mark it on your calendar as one of the most dreaded days of the year for students and teachers — and feel free not to feel guilty about marking it as one of your favorites. The Ysleta Independent School District has released its 2017-2018 calendar for public schools.

The calendar includes important dates such as winter and spring vacations, religious holidays, federal holidays, early dismissals and parent-teacher conferences.

Here is the full list of dates to know for this school year:

• 8/14 - 8/18: Student Registration, New Teacher Induction
• 8/21 - 8/25: Professional Development, Convocations, Teacher Prep Day
• 8/28: First Day of School

September

• 9/4: No School (Labor Day)
• 9/19 - 9/22: Parent Conferences
• 9/27: Early Release for Students (Campus PD)

October

• 10/16 - 10/19: TAKS Exit Level Retest
• 10/25: Early Release for Students (Campus PD)
• 10/27: End of First Nine Weeks

November

• 11/10: No School (Veterans Day)
• 11/17: No School for Students (Professional Development)
• 11/20 - 11/24: No School (Thanksgiving Break)

December

• 12/4 - 12/8: EOC English I & II, Math, Science, Social Studies Courses
• 12/21: End of First Semester
• 12/22 - 1/3: No School (Winter Break)

January

• 1/1 - 1/3: No School (Winter Break)
• 1/4 - 1/5: No School for Students (Professional Development)
• 1/8: First Day of Second Semester
• 1/15: No School (Martin Luther King Jr. Day)
• 1/31: Early Release for Students (Campus PD)

February

• 2/20 - 2/23: Parent Conferences
• 2/28: Early Release for Students (TELPAS Calibration)

March

• 3/5 - 3/9: TAKS Exit Level Retests/TELPAS Reading
• 3/9: End of Third Nine Weeks

April

May

• 5/7 - 5/11: EOC for Math, Science, Social Studies Courses
• 5/14 - 5/15: Grade 5 & 8 Reading & Math Retest
• 5/14 - 5/18: Grades 3, 4, 6, 7 Reading & Math, 5 & 8 Science, 8 Social Studies
• 5/28: No School (Memorial Day)

June

• 6/8: Last Day of School
