Best Steak House in Texas? It's Right Here In Houston

This list names the best place to get your beef fix in every state.

HOUSTON, TX — Everyone knows that Texas knows how to do steak. The state is home to great cattle, including Angus and Akaushi, and its ranchers are celebrities. Walk nearly anywhere around the Lone Star State and the scent of grilling beef will eventually reach its way to your nostrils. And as for steak houses, they're everywhere.

Thrillist has a list of the best steakhouses in every state, and the props in Texas go to a Houston mainstay located in the Galleria. It's been serving rib eye, strip, and filet mignon since 1995, and draws diners from across the nation. The name of the best steakhouse in the Lone Star State? Pappas Bros. Steakhouse.

The news is likely not a surprise to some of you, because Pappas Bros. — which also has locations in Dallas and in Houston's downtown — is a perennial member of Wine Spectator's Restaurant Awards list, and the steakhouse has a storied and large inventory of bottles from across the world.

Here's what Thrillist wrote about the restaurant (which also serves some very good seafood, including some of the best King crab claws I've eaten):

Not even Tom Landry could name the best steakhouse in Texas without getting at LEAST 400 people telling him he's wrong. With that in mind, we're rolling with a place that's topped best-of lists for decades, offers up Akaushi Kobe steaks, regularly does craft beer dinners, and has grown to become the best steakhouse in several other Texas cities, as well. Obviously, you should now feel free to jump directly to the comments.

Now the Thrillist list is subjective, of course, so we'd love to hear where you go when you get a hankering for a nice grilled N.Y. Strip or a rib eye. Tell us in the comments section.
