Deputy Injured in Collision at Busy Intersection: Report
A van from a day care center hit the cruiser early Monday morning, says Harris County Sheriff's Office.

HOUSTON, TX — A Harris County sheriff's deputy was taken to a local hospital early Monday morning after a van from a day care center struck her car, according to media reports. The collision occurred at about 6 a.m. in the intersection of Dairy Ashford and Memorial Drive, on the west side of town, KPRC-TV Channel 2 reported.
A spokesperson for Elena's Day Care said there no children in the van, according to Channel 2. The van's driver was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.
The Precinct 5 deputy, whose name was not released, was traveling westbound on Memorial Drive with the car's lights and siren on, according to a spokesman for the Harris County Sheriff's Office. The day care van was moving north on Dairy Ashford Drive when it crashed into the deputy's car, Channel 2 reported.

Firefighters used a "Jaws of Life" device to pull the deputy out of the car, Channel 2 reported. She is expected to recover from her injuries, according to the sheriff's office.
