HOUSTON, TX — A River Oaks home built for George R. Brown 85 years ago went up for sale this week. The five-bedroom home listed on realtor.com is going for $9.995 million, and no penny seemed to be wasted on this mansion listed by Patch's real estate partner, realtor.com, that encompasses more than 9,000 square feet.
The property listed on realtor.com is located at 3363 Inwood Drive and also includes a 580-square-foot pool house and a 342-square-foot guest house/apartment. There are five full bathrooms and three half baths.
The home built in 1932 was designed by architect J. T. Rather of the Staub, Rather & Howze firm. Brown, a prominent Houston entrepreneur who built the Brown & Root construction company to become one of the largest in the world, helped launch the political career of President Lyndon B. Johnson.

According to the Houston Chronicle, the current owners — lawyer Denman Heard and his wife, Laura — bought the house in 1998 "as is" for $2.1 million and put millions of dollars into renovations and additions.
