Harvey The Second Costliest Hurricane On Record: NHC Report

Here's how it ranks against Rita, Ike, Katrina and other catastrophic storms, according to a report today by the National Hurricane Center.

HOUSTON, TX — The National Hurricane Center on Friday unveiled the all-time costliest hurricanes to hit the United States mainland since records have been kept, and last year's Hurricane Harvey is second on that list. The $125 billion of Harvey's destruction ranks only behind Hurricane Katrina, which wreaked $160 billion of havoc in 2005.

According to a report evaluating the storm's costliness, the NHC stated Katrina's cost is estimated at $160 billion after "accounting for inflation."

Ike and Rita made the all-time top 10 costliest storms to hit the U.S. mainland. Here's the chart:
