Has Highland Village Restaurant Served Its Final Meal?

Up has been in business since 2011; alcohol proceeds have plummeted recently

HOUSTON, TX — What goes up, must come down, the saying goes, and restaurants are not immune to that law, which seems to have been applied at least temporarily to Up, a restaurant in Highland Village

A sign on the restaurant states, "Up Restaurant is closed for remodeling. We apologize for any inconvenience."

According to Houston Business Journal, liquor sales at the restaurant have dropped by almost half over the past several months.

Up's website, which was still online this afternoon, claims that "Up is destined to become a Houston staple - your second kitchen." (It also requests that gentlemen avoid wearing ball caps in the restaurant.)

Up is owned by Haidar Barbouti.
