Houston Weekend Shootings Roundup: 3 Fatalities Reported

As students nationwide protest gun violence in wake of recent school shootings, it was another deadly weekend in the city of Houston.

HOUSTON, TX — Gun laws and gun safety seem to dominate mainstream news lately, mostly because of a rash of school shootings nationwide. Meanwhile in Houston, it was another deadly weekend with three more shooting fatalities over the weekend.

Here's the weekly rundown of weekend shootings as reported by the Houston Police Department.


Meyerland-Sharpstown Area Fatality
Luis Barragan, 20, was shot by an unknown suspect who fled the scene before officers arrived at the Reserve at Creekbend Apartment (7600 Creekbend Drive) complex around 1:05 a.m. Sunday. Bargain was taken to an area hospital by paramedics, and he was later pronounced dead.
There are no known witnesses or suspect(s) at this time.

Man Found Shot To Death On Side Of Road In Westside
Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of a male found at (March 16).A man was found on the side of the road at 14500 Patterson about 9:15 p.m. last Friday. He had been shot multiple times and was pronounced dead at the scene. The identity of the victim is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
At this time, there are no known witnesses or suspect(s) in the shooting.


Man Killed In NE Houston
The case of a man shot dead on Sunday (March 18) will be referred to a Harris County grand jury. The identity of the victim, 27, is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
According to HPD homicide detectives, officers responded to a shooting in-progress call at a warehouse atat 950 John Alber Road about 2 a.m. and found a male, 40, rendering aid to the victim, who the man had shot. Paramedics arrived and transported the victim to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead. Investigators were told the victim was shot when he attempted to shoot the older male. The man was questioned and later released.
