Lamar Looks To Keep Hot Streak Going Friday Night
Texans face winless Sam Houston Friday night at Delmar Stadium

HOUSTON, TX — Ever since a season-opening loss to Klein Collins, the Lamar Texans have played with their ears pinned back. The Texans started the season two weeks late because of Hurricane Harvey, but they've won four straight and are out to a 4-1 record, including a perfect 3-0 mark in District 18-6A. Lamar should make quick work of Friday's opponent, Sam Houston Math, Science and Technology, which is 1-4 overall and 0-3 in district. The game is at 7 p.m. Friday at Delmar Stadium.
Lamar leads the district at 3-0, followed by Heights (3-1), Westside (2-1), Bellaire (2-1), Westbury (2-2), Chavez (0-4) and Sam Houston (0-3).
Lamar has outscored its opponents by a 196-44 margin in five games — Klein Collins scored 27 of those 44 points. The Texans have posted two-consecutive shutouts against Chavez and Bellaire, and could make it three in a row Friday. A win by Lamar Friday would ensure at least a tie for first place in district, with an outright title game next week against Bellaire.
