Weekend Shootings Roundup: 1 Fatality Reported

HOUSTON, TX — Thousands of people congregated downtown Saturday to protest gun violence. And while their collective voices were heard by state and local leaders, more blood was shed on the streets of Houston last weekend.

Houston police reported two shootings over the weekend, including one fatality. People shot over the weekend were age 18, 19 and 20. Here's the weekly rundown of weekend shootings as reported by the Houston Police Department.

18-year-old man killed
HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting call at 3502 Lydia about 10:20 p.m. on Saturday and found two men had suffered gunshot wounds. An 18-year-old man whose identity hasn't been revealed was pronounced dead and the other man, 31, was taken to Ben Taub General Hospital in an unknown condition by HFD paramedics. The unknown suspects fled the scene in a silver, extended-cab, four-door pickup truck.

Man, woman both shot outside gas station
A 19-year-old man and 20-year-old woman were shot outside a Chevron station at 6626 Cullen Boulevard around 5:20 p.m. Sunday afternoon.

According to HPD, Damion Patrick and Lakia Chavis were inside their vehicle in the Chevron parking lot when unknown black male suspects in a black Kia Soul pulled up alongside them. One or more persons inside the Kia then fired multiple shots, striking both victims. The suspects then fled the scene.
The Kia was later located at 6400 Liverpool and was determined to be stolen.
