White House Sold: Sterling Mansion Auctioned For $2.8 Million
The house was built in 1924 and once served as the Texas governor's mansion for oil baron Ross Sterling.

MORGANS POINT, TX — The famous White House replica that was built for former Texas Governor Ross Sterling in the 1920s has a new owner.
The scaled down version that sits on a six-acre tract along Galveston Bay was auctioned for $2.8 million -- well below the $5.4 million price tag -- through New York-based Concierge Auctions last month.
The mansion, a sprawling 20,000-square-feet — includes nine bedrooms and 15 bathrooms and was listed on Realtor.com.
