8 Puppies Abandoned In Trash Can On Cold Texas Day
The sign read 'Free puppies, leave the trash can.'

HUNTSVILLE, TX — Eight adorable puppies were left shivering in a large trash can this week, and a good samaritan reported it to a local animal shelter in Huntsville to kickstart a new hope for the cute canines. News started with a man contacting the Rita B. Huff shelter, which in turned called an adoption center in College Station.
According to a spokesperson for Long Way Home Adoptables, they saw a Facebook item by the Rita B. Huff shelter that was posted after someone told them that there were puppies in a trash can. When an officer went to investigate, they found that there were eight puppies in a trash can large enough the puppies couldn't escape.
More to it, there was a sign posted that read "Free puppies. Leave the trash can."

Staff from Rita B. Huff reached out to Long Way Home director April Plemons to see how they could help, and Long Way brought them in. But the journey doesn't stop there. Long Way Home in College Station tries to get foster homes lined up and veterinary care in place — and that costs money. In this case, the puppies were cared for at the Wellborn Road Veterinary Center in College Station.
