Apartment Fire Near Memorial Park And Washington Avenue
A cutting tool likely cause a spark during construction at these River Oaks-Galleria area apartments.

HOUSTON, TX — Houston firefighters responded to an apartment fire at 900 Studemont Street on Thursday morning, near Washington Avenue and Memorial Park. Firefighters found a visable fire in an exterior wall of one building, and believe it was caused from a spark ignited during the construction process. Crews from Station 6 and 8 controlled the fire within 20 minutes.
One unit was directly impacted, however several additonal units suffered from smoke damage. The area of the fire was under construction, with crews working on the site the previous day. It appeared to firefighters that sparks from a cutting tool provided the heat source to ignite rotten wood which smoldered before catching fire.
There was an estimated $1,250 in damage.
