Box Of More Than 1,800 Patient Records Found In Unsecured Dumpster

Compromised information includes telephone numbers, dates of birth, and mailing addresses

HOUSTON, TX — The patient information of more than 1,800 patients may have been compromised after a box with patient information was found in a Dumpster in the Heights.

The Harris County Health and Human Services Department said in a press release that a box containing records for 1,842 patients contained information, such as dates of birth, mailing addresses, phone numbers, and other personal information, KTRK reported.

State officials are providing a year of free credit monitoring service to the 1,842 people who may be affected by the breach. Those who believe they are affected can call 855-904-5740 or visit enroll.allclearid.com for more information.
