George H.W. Bush To Remain In Hospital Through The Weekend

The former president is still in good spirits and looks to resume his schedule and go to Maine next month.

HOUSTON, TX — Former U.S. President George H.W. Bush will remain in Houston Methodist Hospital through the weekend to continue his recovery and regain strength, his spokesman tweeted Friday morning. He continued to say the 41st president is "in excellent spirits, and is looking forward to resuming his schedule and going to Maine next month."

Earlier this week, Jeb Bush said his father would go home by Friday. Jeb Bush called his father "stronger than an ox," and went on to say the 41st president was "the greatest man alive."

George H.W. Bush was admitted to Houston Methodist Hospital on Sunday morning after he contracted an infection that spread to his blood, not even 24 hours after the burial of Barbara Bush, his wife of 73 years. His office released a statement Monday that said the 41st president was responding to treatments and he appeared to be recovering.
