Houston National Night Out Set For Tuesday Night
Places all over town ready to mingle with neighbors, cops and first responders to unite against crime, and have a little food and fun

HOUSTON, TX — Texas carves out one night a year when residents can mingle with each other and local law enforcement to build a bond with each other as a sign of unity and to come together to fight crime. The 34th Annual National Night Out in Houston and Harris County — and for Texas — will take place Tuesday night from 6 - 9 p.m.
The City of Houston, Houston Police Department, Harris County Sheriff's Office and surrounding law enforcement agencies have planned to participate. For the 34th consecutive year, thousands of citizens in neighborhoods all over the city will step out of their homes to meet their neighbors and renew their commitment to public safety. The National Association of Town Watch (NATW) was pleased to announce that they will be continuing with the October date in 2017 for the State of Texas, wherein all other states the event takes place in early August.
"As Mayor of this city, I encourage each of you to step outdoors on this night and meet your neighbors," Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner said. "After the introduction, you will no longer be a stranger and a connection will begin. This connection can lead to unifying neighborhoods, streets, subdivisions, and communities against crime. Your neighbors can become your allies against crime and together we will be able to improve the quality of life in our city."
