It's the Cat's Meow: Get Ready for Houston's First Feline Cafe
A Heights establishment scheduled to open in the spring of 2017 will supply you with lattes and purrs.

A few months ago in Brooklyn, I spent 30 minutes or so in a cat cafe in my old neighborhood, Brooklyn Heights. It was a pleasant interlude, full of well-behaved children and tolerant cats. I sat near a Siamese, who liked to be rubbed on her forehead, and gave some exercise to a rambunctious pair of tabby kittens.
Well, trends that catch on in Brooklyn eventually end up in Houston, and cat cafes are no exception, reports the Houston Business Journal. It will be called El Gato Coffeehouse, and it will set up residence at 508 Pecore St. in the Heights.
Look for cookies, cakes, empanadas, and coffee from Argus Coffee Co. All of the food will be prepared in a standalone shipping container, something the city demanded. (I cook around my cat, and have never made anyone sick.)

Petting a cat is good for your health, and can calm your stress, so make plans to put a visit on your calendar.
Renee Reed, who owns and will operate the cateteria, hopes to please all who enter her door.
"Even for those that aren't cat people, I'm sure we'll be able to convert them," Reed told HBJ.
